The Peguis Foundation Inc. gratefully acknowledges the generous donation from the TD Bank in Winnipeg.  TD Bank offices had relocated to another building and they had generously donated their office furniture to Peguis.  TD Bank is the Corporate Trustee for the Peguis Surrender Claim Trust. Sharon Stevenson and staff at the Peguis Surrender Claim Trust offices coordinated the transfer and delivery of the furniture and equipment to Peguis, valued at $55,000.00

The furniture and equipment, comprised of desks, cubicles, filing cabinets, chairs, boardroom tables and shelving which was shared with many of the Band departments and organizations.  It is this heartfelt donation from TD that has allowed staff to create comfortable and welcoming office environments for the community.

The Peguis Foundation Inc. also acknowledges Harvard Property Developments for their generous contribution of $40,000.00 to Peguis for community events and activities.

It is these acts of friendship & generosity that we wish to say ‘migwetchiwendam’ to TD Bank and Harvard Property Developments.  Thank you & we are grateful.

Our Trust

The Peguis Surrender Claim Trust is currently valued at $135,000,000.

We remind the community that the Trust is application driven and we encourage members to visit the Trust office to discuss how we can assist with funding their business plans or community activities.

Trust information sessions were held with the Grades 9-12 at the Peguis Central School in mid-September.  This provided the opportunity for the students to learn about their history, Treaty #1, the Illegal Surrender of St. Peters Reserve and why we have the Trusts.  Students were also provided with a summary of the Trust funded projects over the past few years.  They were also informed about up and coming projects with Peguis and an idea of the future careers needed to support Peguis & it’s economic development.

Kiche Migwetch to Karen Myran for the invitation from Peguis Central School and to Dave McPherson, Hal Sutherland, Sharon Stevenson, and Debbie McElhinney for the presentations. We also say thank you to Denise Sinclair, Nikki Stevenson & Fern Sinclair for their administrative support.

The Peguis Chief & Council have appointed the  Trust Nominating Committee to begin the process of seeking  nominations and subsequent election for  vacant Trustee positions.

We encourage you to watch the Peguis First Nation website and Facebook page for upcoming information and call for applications.
